Text 25 Jan Hello My Friends!

I have a question to whom ever this applies to!

I love the idea of living in California, I’m thinking of moving there with my boyfriend within the next two years. We’re thinking the San Francisco area since “Silicon Valley” is close and my boyfriend is a techie.

So I was wondering if any of you knew if there was a vegan community around the bay!?

Starbucks Same-Sex Marriage Support of the Day: Seattle-based coffeehouse giant Starbucks announced late yesterday that it is joining Microsoft and other local businesses in supporting the marriage equality legislation currently making its way through Washington’s House and Senate.
From the company’s statement:

This important legislation is aligned with Starbucks business practices and upholds our belief in the equal treatment of partners. It is core to who we are and what we value as a company. […]
We are deeply dedicated to embracing diversity and treating one another with respect and dignity, and remain committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and safe work environment for all of our partners.
We look forward to seeing this legislation enacted into law.

It was revealed on Monday that supporters of the legislation believe they have enough votes to pass the bill. Gov. Chris Gregoire has already expressed her wholehearted support for the measure.

This makes me happy that I had Starbucks today! =]

Photo 24 Jan 2 notes One of my favorite healthy breakfasts before I went vegan was some Greek Yogurt, some fruit (usually an apple) to dip and some almonds (my favorite nut) but until now, I’ve never tried, or even thought of trying vegan yogurt. So I went to Waldbaums, my local grocery store and bought So Delicious Blueberry yogurt and WholeSoy blueberry yogurt…can you guess what flavor yogurt I like?
I figured I would compare the two and let you all know what I thought!
So Delicious Coconut Yogurt:
Texture: Thick and creamy- little chunks of blueberry!
Color: Perfect blueberry yogurt purple
Taste: Almost like non-vegan yogurt, if you didn’t tell me it was made out of coconut milk, I would have never known! No coconut taste like some of the ice cream I’ve had!

WholeSoy Yogurt:
Texture: Creamy, a little watery- nice big chunks of blueberries!
Color: Muddy purple
Taste: There is definitely an off taste to it, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad I just think it’s more obvious that it’s a soy yogurt

So the winner for me? So Delicious! But honestly, I’d probably buy both. Which ever on is on sale or is cheaper is the one I’ll probably continue to buy! Both were yummy! Surprising actually! I expected the worst!

What vegan yogurts do you like? Or want me to try?

Our second rescue from beagles who have lived their entire lives inside a research laboratory. These beagles have known nothing except the confines of metal cages. They have known no soft human touch, no warm bed, no companionship, no love. They have never been outside or sniffed a tree or grass.

Finally, after years of being poked and prodded, these beagles are FREE! ARME got the call that a facility was willing to release them to us after they had been used in several tests. We picked them up on June 8th and now they are all in loving foster homes, and one has already been adopted. (Click here too see the video).

I had tears in my eyes when I watched the video. It reminds me a little of Flint when I got him from the shelter and he was able to run free without a leash for the first time in his life.

You have to watch this, it’s so heartwarming <3

This is so sad but beautiful at the same time! I would definitely adopt a laboratory puppy or kitty! I just want to hugs these dogs and say it’ll be okay!

Photo 4 Dec College is expensive, but being a vegan doesn’t have to be!
Walmart is a top grocery store for many college students, me included! Walmart is good because it’s cheap and has great vegan options, and sometimes, it’s the only place to get vegan options around you. I am aware many of you may not like Walmart for the things they do, that’s okay! Don’t read this post! But I wanted to make this post for everyone to see how easy it is to be vegan in college!
So here’s my shopping list for Walmart (Note, I do have a meal plan so this isn’t a three meal a day shopping list)
~Silk (Omega Plus, Light, Vanilla and Chocolate are my top choices)
~Cereal (Special K, Reeses PB cup, etc)
~Galaxy American “Cheese” (after a few weeks without cheese, this tasted almost exactly like the cheese singles!)
~Boca Chik’n Patties
~Coconut Ice Cream Sandwiches (there is also Tofutti ice cream and I think Rice Dream)
~Thomas Bagels
~Vegan Butter- Usually I by Smart Balance Light (their only vegan butter) But today I saw Blue Bonnet Light, which was almost two dollars cheaper! It was a dollar fifty!
~And finally veggie chips!
It may not all be healthy! But that’s what I use the dining halls for! I eat my veggies and fruit there! And sometimes I’ll ask for a bun with lettuce and tomato and mustard, bring it back and put my “cheese” and chik’n patty on it!

Feel free to ask me any questions or send me your opinions! =]
